WAGE INCREASE
REGENT CO'UIIT ORDER APPLIES TO APPRENTICESHIP CONTRACTS At the time of the making of the general order of the Arbitration Court granting an increase of o per cent, in wages there was considerable doubt whether the order applied to contracts of apprenticaship in force at the time. An Order in Council has now been issued amending the 'Rates of Wages Emergency Regulations of law by adding a paragraph which has the effect of making all existing apprenticeship contracts subject to the increase of o per cent, as from August 12. the date of the making of the general order. The paragraph reads: — Any o-enoral order heretofore or hereafter made by the court in pursuance of these regulations and relating to rates of remuneration fixed by apprenticeship orders shall on and trom the date of coming into effect of such "encral order be deemed to app.y according to its tenor to all contracts of apprenticeship in force on that date and entered into subject either to the provisions of any apprenticeship order in force on that date or to the provisions of an apprenticeship order that bad on that date been superseded by any subsequent apprenticeship order or orders.
