DUNEDIN FRENCH CLUB

The greater part of Monday meeting was spent in reading the prin* cipal scenes of a modern French play, ‘ Knock,’ by Remains, the story of th« exploits of a French country doctor. Miss V. M. Barron directed the pro* ceedings, and most of those present took part in the actual reading. Tha remainder of the time was spent in in* specting and discussing a set of pit* tures of life in Indo-China—modern! Buddhist idols and temples, the tradii tional Indo-Chinese ballet, native types, big game hunting, and the wonderful sculpture and architecture of Angkor Vat, huge temple of a bygone civilisa* tion, the ruins of which have been cleverly restored by French archseolo* gists. Mmo. Connor moved a vote ol thanks to Miss Barron and the other members who had helped to provide th* evening’s entertainment.
