CIVIC AFFAIRS
MEETING OF CITY COUNCIL The fortnightly meeting of the City Council was held last night, the mayor (Mr A. H. Allen) presiding. Those present included Crs D. C. Cameron, W. H. Borrie, J. Wilson, M. C.- Henderson, R. Walls, J. W. Mumo, M.P., J. M'Crae, H. L. Gibson, W. B. Taverner. and E. J. Smith. NAVY QUEEN GRANT. The recommendation of the Finance Committee that provision for a grant of £I,OOO to the Navy Queen Committee should be made in the allocations for the next financial year was, on the motion of the chairman (Or Taverner), referred back to the committee. TENDER. The tender of Messrs Donald Stuart Ltd. for the supply and delivery of a steel wire rope for the Kaikorai cable tramway in the sum of £636 10s 6d was accepted.
