ANNIVERSARY SERVICE

ARRIVAL OF SHIP JURA A special service was conducted in First Church last night to mark the eighty-second anniversary of the arrival of the ship Jura at Port Chalmers. Passengers and descendants attended the service. The occasion, said the Rev. W. A. Stevely, was one of thanksgiving to God for the vision, sacrifice, and faith of the pioneers. The passengers by the Jura played a big part in the development of the province, for Dunedin was very young when they arrived. These pioneers bad left a goodly heritage, and it was this splendid inheritance of faith and freedom which was being imperilled by forces of evil in the world to-day, and which inspired our nation to endure sacrifice in order to vindicate and maintain it.
