Passing himself off as a member o£ the Air Force, Clarence Reginald Burt (32), gained admittance to the Wigram air station, but when taken to th» guard room his deception was discovered. Burt was charged to-day; with being unlawfully on the and it was then revealed that he had passed himself off as a commissioned Air Force officer to gain admittance to the Union Jack Club. Once before Burt had been found at Wigram in suspicious circumstances, and had been warned offCast Tuesday Burt knocked on a pilot’s bedroom door, and said he had been instructed to report for training. When accommodation had been arranged the deception was discovered, Burt had no connection with Wigram, but was taking an educational course sponsored by the Air Department. “ They are not taking men with this record? ” asked the magistrate (Mr Levvey), after reading Burt’s list. After warning Burt that he would be sent to gaol if there was any further trouble, the Magistrate convicted and ordered him to come up for sentence in two years if called on.
