'THERE IS NO OGPU'

As the heading suggests, * There is no Ogpu ’ has the great Soviet States of Russia as a setting, but the story itself has no political significance. Rather is it a mystery story with the political police forming a background. It is a Herbert Jenkins publication (our copy from Messrs Whitcombe and Tombs Ltd.), the author being Andrew Wood. The story starts off in Paris among the exiled Russian aristocrats and counter-revolutionaries, and Rells of the adventures and trials of a young girl and her brother, who, ardent royalists. return to Russia, only to become embroiled in the machinations of the Ogpu, to be thrown into prison and condemned to death. How they are miraculouslv rescued presents no difficulties to the imaginative mind of the author. The story is a little far-fetched.
