LEAGUE CRICKET

ANNUAL MEETING There was a good attendance at the inuual genera] meeting of the Otago Cricket League, held in the Y.M.C.A. rooms', Mr D. C. Cameron (president) occupying the chair. After extending a welcome to all present, the president make reference to the members and ex-members of the league now serving with the forces overseas, and stressed the importance of club members playing their part on the home front. In moving the adoption of the annual report and balance sheet, Mr Cameron congratulated the league on a successful season, and also the winners of the different trophies. The balance sheet showed a small credit after all expenses had been met The election of officers rc' ilted:— Patrons: The Hons- F. Jones and Dr D. G. M'Millan, Messrs P. Xeilson, M.P., Mr J. W. Munro, M.P., Mr A. H. Allen (Mayor), Mr J. J. Marlow (Mayor of St. Hilda) ; president, Mr T). CCameron; vice-presidents—Mrs Blaney, Messrs W. H. M'Lean, J. K. M‘Fie, A. Burrell, A. Melville, W. Strang. H. H. Gaston. M. C. Henderson. W. D- Richards, W. J. Duncan, F.. P. Hellver., F. Grimsdale, F. Grindley, J. V. C. Watson (re-elected), J. H. Gould, W. H. MacKenzie. W. Cocking; secretary and treasurer, Mr S. C. Ringroso; assistant secretary, Mr J. Inglis; publicity, Mr J. V. C. Watson: auditors. Messrs A. Borland and T. Halliday; trustee. Mr .1. K. M‘Fie: executive, one declgate from each club.

Both Mr D._C. Cameron and Mr E. P. Hellyer eulogised the service which the retiring secretary (Mr .Tas. Gould) had rendered to the league over a period of years as assistant secretary and secretary. Mr S. C. Pimrroso was unanimously appointed to fill the position of secretary-treasurer.

Applications for affiliation were received from 25 clubs. and it was decided to apply for 12 wickets on the Oval. The season will open on the first Saturday in October.
