—Ministerial.— The Minister of Education (Hon. HG. R. Mason), accompanied by Mra Mason and his ■ private secretary (Mg P. J. G. Smith), arrived yesterday! afternoon. The Minister formally opened the Macandrew _ Intermediate School last night, and this morning, ia company with members of the Education Board, visited the Dunedin North! Intermediate School and the Home Science School, inspecting the work being done. This afternoon he left tor Gore, where he was to open the new technical! block of the Gore High School. From Gore the Minister .proceeds to Invercargill. Messrs James (Begg and A. S. Holm* (Waimahaka) were passengers by the through express to-day_ on their way to Wellington for a meeting of the Meafj Board. Mr O. M. Bruce left to-day for Weft lington. At a meeting of the Dunedin Community Sing Committee yesterday that deputy chairman, Mr W. Rutledge, referred to the death of Mr Percy Chapman, who had been a member of that committee. Officers of the New Zealand Institute of Surveyors were elected at the annual meeting of the institute as follows:—President, Mr C. K. Griersonj (Auckland); vice-presidents,,Messrs HL. Paterson (Dunedin) and M. (Wellington): councillors—Messrs TW. Preston (Christchurch), E. V. Biakdj (Auckland), IR. 6. .Dick (Wellington), A. C. Cooke (Gisborne). H. L. P. Dyetn (Wellington), and A. H. Bogle (Wanganui) ; auditor, Mr G, J. J. Feil; secretary and treasurer, Mr H. Esmond Greig (Wellington). Mr A. E. Hayman (Auckland), Mis* E. M. Tombs, Mr W. H. S. Brockman (Wellington), Mr A. R. Henderson. Mrj H. Townsend (Christchurch), Mr and! Mrs' A. Anderson and Miss G. Anderson (Timaru) are staying at the City) Hotel. On the guest list at the Carlton Hotel are Mr H. Clark (Christchurch), M 4 A. H. Bryant (Lake Wakatipu), Mi; W T. White (Invercargill). New registrations at Wain’s Hotel are Mr and Mrs S. G. Steer. Mr and Mrs H. J. Miles (Auckland), Mr and Mrs A. E. Massey, Mr William Massey (Pukekohe), Mr Edgar Kain (Wellington), Mr IR. E. Porter (Christchurch) , Mr G. R. Lang (Invercargill). Latest arrivals at the Grand Hotel are the Hon. Mr and Mrs H. G.
