STAFF TALKS
ARMY AND AIR CHIEFS IN AUSTRALIA [Per United Press Assocu :ion.] WELLINGTON, September 19. The Hon. F. Jones, interviewed today, said that the proposal that staff talks should bo held between the chiefs of the New Zealand naval, general, and air staffs and the chiefs of the respective Australian staffs was approved recently by the Government, and agreed to bv the Commonwealth Government.
“ The purpose of these talks is to allow informal but full discussions on all matters of defence. Major-general Dnigan and Group-captain Saunders, Chief of the Air Staff, left New Zealand on Tuesday last for Melbourne, where they have now arrived. “ Commodore Parry, Chief of the Naval Staff, took the opportunity, when in Australia recently, of discussing with the Chief of the Commonwealth Naval Staff all matters of common concern regarding naval defence. The Government attaches the greatest importance to the maintenance of full and effective liaison between the chiefs of staff of the two countries,” concluded Mr Jones.
