1,825 SOLDIERS’ PARCELS

STRAND COMMUNITY SING TOTAL DONATIONS WORTH £BB2 10/One thousand eight hundred and twenty-five parcels—or an equivalent of £BB2 10s in donations —is the excellent contribution of the Dunedin Community Sing Committee towards the provision of comforts for Now Zealand soldiers overseas. This graphically, illustrates the magnificence of the patriotic work of this hard-working body, which is deserving of congratulation on its achievement, comparing very favourably indeed with the efforts of other committees in this direction. Nothing could be done without the support of the sing followers, and their whole-hearted response has resulted in 1.225 parcels being made available for Christmas. A donation was received only this week for that purpose —£12 10s from Paerau (Styx), Central Otago. Some weeks ago, after the termination of the appeal for ordinary 9s parcels. the excellent sura of £270 was handed over to the mayor (Mr A. H. Alien)—provision for 600 parcels. It lias been noticeable throughout the season that the public response to ; all appeals launched bv the sin-y committee has been remarkable, and these figures serve to bring attention to the readiness of all to enhance the lot of our boys overseas.
