SPAIN’S ATTITUDE. LONDON, September 18.—The correspondent of ‘ The Times ’ on the German frontier states that Senor Suner, interviewed after his talks with Hitler and von Ribbentrop, declared; “Spain is only momentarily non - belligerent. General Franca personally will decide when to abandon aloofness.” Germany is making much of Senor Suner’s visit, which it is do dared, coincides with Germany’s final settlement with Britain. The ‘ Voelkischer Beobachter ’ stated that Spain has taken up a position leaving no doubt as to her foreign aims. It is reported that Senor Suner is going to Rome to confer with Mussolini and Count Ciano. ATTACK ON INVASION BASES. RUGBY, September 18.—According to agency reports, invasion bases on the French and Belgian coasts appeared to bo heavily attacked again by the R.A.F. on Wednesday night. A succession of flashes, almost continuous at times, could be seen from the English coast. Reports state that the attacks mot with fierce fire. FUNDS FOR TROOPS—GOVERNOR TO BROADCAST. Lord Galway is taking the keenest personal interest in the activities of the national patriotic organisation, of which ho is chairman, since the National Patriotic Fund Board and the Provincial Patriotic Councils wore set up to raise funds for the troops. He is broadcasting to-night, opening the appeal for one million pounds by provincial councils, and has himself produced the design from which the poster is being prepared for the first part of the campaign.—Press Association.
