Hon. Adam Hamilton, Leader of the Opposition, will leave Wellington tonight for Invercargill, where he will discuss with the county councils of Southland the rural housing scheme of financing house building through these bodies. Prior to returning to Wellington he will visit Dunedin and other centres. Mr P. Neikon, M.P., arrived last night from Wellington. He will return north at the end of the week. Mr D. Allan left this morning for Wellington. Mr. M. Silverstone was a passenger for Wellington by the 11.36 express this morning. Dr Herbert Sutcliffe left for the north this morning. A notice in the Gazette ’ states that Mr J. W. Miller, of Queenstown, has been appointed coroner in place of Mr D. F. Sutherland, who has resigned. At to-day’s meeting of the Education Board the resignation was accepted of Mr J. A. Moore as principal of the Dunedin Training College, the resignation to take effect from the end of the year. Mr Moore was appointed to his present position in 1923. The chairman (Mr James Wallace) and Mr W. R. Brugh were appointed to draw up a resolution of appreciation of Mr Moore’# services. Dean Julius, who when he retires will also give up his seat on the Board of Governors of the Cathedral Grammar School, Christchurch, was met by the assembled school yesterday, when a presentation was made to him and Mrs Julius. In making the presentation of a silver salad bowl and server, the head master of the school (Mr H. A. H. Insull) said that he greatly regretted the breaking of the association with Dean Julius.
