CRICKET CHANCES

O.G.A. PRESIDENT RETIRES ALBION'S ALTERED DESIGNATION (By Wallaby.) One of the changes which will be noted by followers of cricket during the forthcoming season will be a slight alteration in the name of one of the oldest clubs in Dunedin—indeed, the oldest club in New Zealand. That is to say, an arrangement embodying amalgamation has been come to between the Albion and Y.M.C.A. Clubs, or perhaps it would be more correct to say that the “ Y.M.” will be absorbed by Albion, A consideration of the absorption being that in future the latter will be known as Alhion-Y.M.C.A. It seems a pity, in all the circumstances, that the alteration should have been deemed necessary in the case of a club which has been known for three-quar-ters of a century as “ the Albion.” However, the members have agreed, so that’s that. Another change, it is understood, is 0110 which affects the presidency of the Otago Cricket Association. Mr A. H. Allen, who has held the position for four years, and done splendid work in building up the finances of that organisation, has decided that it is only fair to those vice-presidents who have also given good service, and who are in line for the chief office, that they should have the opportunity of occupying it. With Mr Alien’s retirement it is highly probable that the senior vice-president, Mr F. H. Binney, will be nominated and elected as the new president. Mr Riniicy, who. is one of the Albion Club's stalwarts, lias bad many years’ experience on the O.C.A. executive, and in addition, has been a player who has attained representative status.
