LAWN TENNIS UNION
ANNUAL MEETING (The annual meeting of the Dunedin Lawn Tennis Union was held last night, Mr E. L. Hope presiding over a large attendance of delegates. Moving the adoption of the annual report, Mr Hope said that the activities of the union would probably be. curtailed during the coming season, oir account of the war, but it was the duty of all to do everything to see that the game was carried on as successfully as (possible, for it was a debt they owed to the men overseas to keep it going. A large number of members of the union were serving overseas, and special hampers had been sent to them from the union. The report and balance sheet were adopted. The election of officers resulted:— President, Dr W. H. Borrie; vice-presi-dents—Messrs A- H. Williamson, Ai T. MTndoc, W. W. Strang, G. Thomson, P Sims, R. H. Price, R. M’Kinnon, W Morrison, B. Perry; C. Bowie, and F Laidlaw; chairman of committee, Mr E. L. Hope; secretary, Mr D. HMason; treasurer. Mr S. R. Watts; auditor, Mr R. M‘Kin non; publicity officer, Mr R. Corkin; Management Committee—Messrs R. Facer, H. Hoare, S. Gibson, G. Robertson, H. Roberts, W. Craigie, and Angelo. It was decided that matches commence on October 19, and that entries close on October 7. ■ KENSINGTON CLUB The annual meeting of the above club was held with a good attendance of members. The annual report and "balance sheet showed the club to be in a good position. , , J ~ The following were elected to the committee: —Patron, Mr • Shepherd; president and club captain, Mr Gibson; treasurer, Mr Gallon; secretary, Mr Craig. It was decided to open the season on September 21.
