. —Ministerial.— The mayor (Mr A. H. Allen) has received advice from the Minister of i Education (Hon. H. G. 11. Mason), that he will arrive to-morrow afternoon, and after performing the opening ceremony' of the Macandrew Hoad Intermediate School in the evening and fulfilling a list of engagements, including a visit to the.jijome Science School on Thursday morning, he wiH leave for the south that afternoon. Mr Crosby Morris returned yester-t day from the north. Mr S. D. Smith was a passenger by the through express to-day on his way to Wellington. Mr Stronach Paterson left to-day foi; Wellington. Mr G, A. Lewin travelled by the. express this morning, bound for Wellington. Mr E. G. Kerr left to-day on his return to Timaru. Mr L. M. Satterthwaite left to-day for Wellington. Mr G. G. Dunn left by the express this morning on his way to Wellington. At the annual meeting of the Grange Cricket Club last night, the chairman (Mr 0. G. Stevens) referred to the death during the year of Mr R. G, Hudson, who, said Mr Stevens, was a vice-president and a staunch supporter of the club for many years. The members present stood as a mark of respeci to the memory of their late .fellowmember. A Wellington Association message states that news has been received of the death in the Gilbert Islands of Mr W. A. Levett, who was attached to headquarters of that area of the London Missionary Society. Sympathy with the club’s patron, Mr R. M'Lean, in his indisposition was expressed in a special vote of the members attending the annual meeting of the Grange Cricket Club last night. , Mr Warwick E. C. Gregory, who for a number of years has been the local director and manager for New Zealand of the Port Line, was last week elected a member of the London board of directors. Mr Gregory, who went, to England on a business visit l in April of last year, has since the war been actively employed in the London office of the Port Line. _ Staying at the City Hotel are Mr E» E.
