ACCIDENTS AND DEATHS
FATALLY STRUCK BY ROCK. Apparently struck by a piece of falling rock as lie walked through Manganui Gorge on Mount Eginont, on Sunday afternoon, Oswald Joseph Riley, aged 25, of Stratford, received head injuries from which he died about two hours later in tho Stratford Hospital. Riley was tho last member of a party of four, none of whom saw the rook fall. ANKLE FRACTURED Mary Cannon, an elderly woman, residing at 23 Moreau street, was admitted to the Hospital at 5 p.m. on Saturday suffering from a fractured ankle, received when she fell in the back yard at her home. KILLED OUTRIGHT. A Palmerston .North Association message states that George Rowland (671, a single man, was killed instantaneously about 7 last evening when struck by a car driven by Alfred Stewart, a farmer, of Opiki, on the main road at Tiakitahuna. INVOLVED IN COLLISION. Richard Rotting was admitted to hospital at 10 o’clock this morning with a fracture of the nose and cheekbone. Tho injured man, who is elderly and who resides at 38 Gladstone road, N.E. Valley, was involved in a collision between a motor 'car and a truck at Fairfield . NONAGENARIAN INJURED. An aged woman, Alexandria Meyer, who is only a few years short of 100 years of age, fell at her home at 911 Cumberland street yesterday and was admitted to hospital at 11 a.ra. suffering from a fractured thigh.
