SPION KOP is also the eire of the Derby winner FELSTEAD, sire of the great filly ROOK.FEL. CRADLE SONG, dam of BATTLE SONG, was described in the ‘ Bloodstock Breeder’s Review ’ as a “ perfect treasure of a mare.” All seven of her progeny are winners. Like the dams of many noted horses of recent times, including the Oaks winner, GOLDEN PENNY, she is by HURRY ON. sire of three Derby winners and head of the list of brood mare sires in 1938 and second in 1939. CRADLE SONG is a daughter of the famous mare VERVE, sold for 7,000 guineas, and the dam of nine winners. She is a granddaughter of ILLUMINATA, the dam of CIJELANDRY and GAS, from which arc derived a record number of England's classic winners.
