MANCHESTER UNITY
At the fortnightly meeting of the Loyal Centenary Lodge N.G. Bro. Pope presided over a good attendance. Nominations for delegates to the halfyearly meeting of district committee were closed. The elections will be held at the next meeting. Loyal Roxburgh Lodge had a good attendance at its meeting. The Per. Sec. congratulated both P.P.G.M. Bro. F. P. Michelle and P.G. Bro. J. George on being appointed justices of the peace. A welcome was extended to Bro. J. W. Bienvenn, a member of a Melbourne lodge. One new member was added lo the roll. An interesting debate was held, every member entering into the discussion. Delegates to
the half-yearly district meeting wer« elected.
N.G. Bro. Innes presided over a good attendance at the fortnightly meeting of Loyal Prince of Wales Lodge, Port Chalmers, when all the other friendly societies in the port were represented. The entertainment took the form of a trump whist tournament. Reference was made to the recent combined effort, of kindred societies in Port which had resulted in about £8 being raised for patriotic purposes. Two nominations for membership wejc received. The election of delegates to the district meeting was held over. At the meeting of the Loyal Albion Lodge reference was made to the death of Bro. J. Uren, an aged' member who originally belonged to Loyal Blue Spur Lodge and a motion of condolence was carried. - The following members were appointed delegates to the distr:ct meeting:—P.P.G.M.’s Bros. Stabb and Longworth; P.G.’s Bros. Penny and Vareoe ; Per. Sec. Bro. Meek and E.S. Bro. Cook. Bro. Ferguson was unpointed lodge steward. The presiding officer at the meeting of Loyal Princes Alary Lodge was N.G. Sister Longworth. During the evening P.P.G.M. Bro. E. Longworth made a presentation of a hanging mirror to P.G. S'ster Douglas, in recognition of services rendered to the lodge. One nomination for membership was received. A Card Shield competition was held, I.oyal Prince of Wales No. 1 team being the winners.
