Robert Donat, now touring in Bernard Shaw’s ‘The Devil’s Disciple,’ told me a good Yorkshire story against himself. While he was appearing in Leeds recently, he had occasion to go over to Ilkley. He changed buses at Otley; while he hesitated the conductor called : “Hurry up. make up your mind.” When he settled down in the bus he overheard a woman passenger say to the conductor: “ You know. I believe he’s an actor.” The conductor, unimpressed, replied: “ That’s nowt. we mix with ail sorts up here! ” —“ Puck,” in i Tit-Bits,’- London,
