VICAR IN A HURRY
The wife of a man who had enlisted in the Navy handed the vicar the following note, to be read in church: —
“Peter Bowers, having gone to sea. his wife desires the prayers of the congregation for his safety.” The minister glanced hastily at the note and read out to his flock:— “ Peter Bowers, having gone to see his wife, desires the prayers of the congregation for his safety!”—A. Wilson, in the ‘ Sunday Chronicle,’ London.
