SOUTH DUNEDIN AFFAIRS
MEETING OF RATEPAYERS' ASSOCIATION A meeting of the executive of the South Dunedin Ratepayers’ Association was held last night, Mr H. R. Hunt presiding. It was decided to acknowledge receipt of a letter from the City Council which stated that owing to shortage of staff through military duties it had been decided to defer the opening of a branch office at South Dunedin. Satisfaction was expressed that the City Council was giving attention to an unsightly section in Glasgow street. On tlio motion of Mr MTndoe. seconded by Mr Jardine, it was decided to write to the City Council asking for the asphalting of Macandrew road footpath from Bradshaw’ street to Forhury road, the load of screenings which had been put down having proved unsatisfactory. It was reported that attention had been given to fences which were obstructing footpaths. It was resolved to ask that repairs and renovations be carried out at the South Dunedin Town Hall. The meeting decided to send a letter of condolence to the relatives of Mr J. Craig, a member of the executive, who died recently.
