THE DOMINION'S REQUIREMENTS DIRECT SHIPMENTS FRW* CALCUTTA [Per United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, September 13. . According to a statement by the Minister of Supply, shipping arrangements have been made with the United .Kjngdom Government to supply New Zealand with jute goods required for both primary and secondary, production within the Dominion. A vessel as scneauled to arrive in New Zealand prior to the wheat harvest. . The Minister draws the attention or importers of jute goods to the fact that there is virtually no possibility of the usual March-April steamer being available for direct shipment to New Zealand in 1941. but as a result of negotiations with Britain, it has.been agreed that two direct shipments from. Calcutta will be sufficient to supply New Zealand’s annual requirements. The vessels will, it is anticipated, leave about the middle and end of next year. The Minister also urges manufacturers and others to utilise second-hand sacks to the greatest degree possible.
