RUSSIAN RADIO HOSTILITY FLEET CRUISING OFF COAST HELSINGFORS, September 28, (Received September 29, at 10 a.m.) The Soviet navy is reported to be cruising in battle formation off Estonia. The Russian radio is vigorously attacking Estonia. It is believed that Moscow regards the present Government ns “ insufficiently friendly ” towards the Soviet, and its reconstruction is possible. ATTACKED BY SUBMARINE RUSSIAN FREIGHTER BEACHED MOSCOW, September 28. (Received September 29, at 10 a.m.) The radio reports that the freighter Poneer was attacked by a submarine and was beached on the Estonian coast. Soviet warships rescued the crew. AIR FORCE RECRUITS BRITAIN’S STRONG POSITION THOUSAND!) OH WAITING LIST (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, September 28. (Received September 29, at 10.30 a.m.) The commandant of the new training wings of the Royal Air Force designed to give a continuous supply of pilots and other personnel, commenting on present recruits, said nothing could equal them, and many thousands more were already on the waiting list. The resources of Canada, Australia, and New Zealand had not yet been touched. When one remembered the dominion resources the supply could he kept up to the end of any" war Germany could fight.

NEW ZEALANDERS IN ENGLAND LONDON, September 28. (Received September 29, at 11 a.m.) The Ministry of Information issued a statement that, apart from New Zealand’s effort to supply the Royal Air Force with trained pilots and other i personnel, nearly 400 New Zealanders were already in England training for pilots in the Royal Air Force. WITHOUT FOUNDATION GERMAN STORY OF BOMB-DROPPING IK BELGIUM (British Official Wireless.) . RUGBY, September 28. (Received September 29, at 11 a.m.) The German wireless announced last night that four bombs had been dropped by British bombers on the Belgian side of the Belgian-German frontier. The aeroplanes were said to have swerved over the Belgian territory to avoid German anti-aircraft fire. Inquiries made in official circles in London showed that the report was entirely devoid of foundation. It is stated in official circles that 14 Blenheim bombers had recently been flown from England to Rumania by Rumanian pilots. RECONNAISSANCE FLIGHTS B.A.F. ACTIVITY OVER GERMANY (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, September 28. (Received September 29, at 10 a.m.) The Air Ministry announces that during yesterday and last night Air Force machines carried out further reconnaissances into Germany on the western front. Despite opposition, valuable information was obtained, and all our aircraft returned safely. GERMAN CHASER FLAKES ACQUIRED BY RUMANIA BERLIN, September 28. (Received September 29, at 1 p.m.) Rumanian air force pilots yesterday took delivery of 11 German Keinkel chaser planes, of which they now possess 30. LIGHTING RESTRICTIONS PROBLEM UNDER REVIEW (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, September 28. (Received September 29, at 10.30 a.m.) Sir John Anderson stated in the House of Commons that the whole problem of lighting restrictions was under review in light of the knowledge gained during the few weeks’ experience of blackout conditions.
