With good weather conditions prevailing last week-end the qualifying rounds for the club’s championships were held, and D. C. Bonnie, with 74 77—151 headed the field. His score of 741 —73 in the first round was by far the best returned. A perusal of the scores returned by those to qualify gives some idea, of the conditions players had to contend with. The course is extended to its fullest extent, and play from the hack tees and the new green at the eighth was being used for the first time. The course is easily 200yds longer than usual, and the beavv rain prior to the week-end made the fairways and greens as heavy as experienced in mid-winter. In the intermediate section the 16 competitors to qualify returned higher scores than usual. A. K. Jefferson (86 —87—173) loads, with W. F. Sligo (88 —86—174) second. For the junior cup E. A. Bolwcll (Ted), 91—90—181, and E, Drake (87—95—182) qualified first and second respectively. In conjunction with this event the competitor returning the host gross score receives the Manning Cup. Congratulations to the winner of this fine trophy. The Bolwell family is well represented in the club, no fewer than three brothers being active and 'keen playing members.
