FALL OF WARSAW. BERLIN, September 27.—A German High Command communique, claiming that Warsaw has capitulated unconditionally, says it will be handed over to, the Germans on Friday, after a 2,4 hours’ armistice necessitated by, the condition of the city and the inhabitants, 3,000 of whom fell victims to the bombardment on September 2G. Unofficial reports stated that Warsaw would be given over to the German troops to-night. The Warsaw radio, before the conclusion of the armistice, disclosed that citizens stood dazedly by while their bouses burned. The dead and wounded were left lying in the streets. Modlin still holds out. Thirteen German planes were shot down, bringing the total to 106. POSTER COMPETITION . DECIDED. A Wellington Association message states that the result of the poster competition inaugurated by the Management .Committeeof the National Art . Gallery to advertise the International and New.,Zealand, exhibition of art during the centennial period is announced. There Were 48 entries. The winner, Mr E. 0. Chapman, of Wellington, received logs, and Mr H. Maude, Pctone, who was second, ogs.' The fust, and possibly the second, will he ntilised to advertise the art exhibitions.
