PROFITS FROM LAST SEASON’S EWE MUTTON

DIVERSION TO COST OF WAR SUGGESTED

[Per United Press Association.]

CHRISTCHURCH, September 27. The suggestion that the profits to be secured from the sale of fast season’s ewe mutton, which would be exported now because of war needs, should be devoted towards tho cost of the war, was made by Mr J, W. D. Hall at a meeting of the North Canterbury Executive of the Farmers’ Union. If the profits were not going to the farmers, then they should not go to the companies. The sale of this ewe mutton was dependent on the war, and the proceeds should go to .the cost of the war. It was finally agreed to make an inquiry about where the profits from the sale of such mutton were going.
