HEAVY INCREASE IN TAXATION Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright SYDNEY, September 26. After providing for a heavy increase in taxation the New South Wales Treasurer (Mr A. Mair), who delivered his Budget to-night in the State Assembly, estimated that the net deficiency would aggregate £1,512,000. Additional taxation will be as follows: The company tax is being increased from 2s 3d to 2s 6d in the pound. The individual income tax is being increased by 8 per cent. There will be a supertax of Is in the pound on taxpayers’ incomes which exceed £2,000. The taxation on motor vehicles will be increased by 12i per cent. In addition there is an increase in private income taxation and a substantial increase in taxation on wages. INCREASES NEARLY FOUR MILLIONS SYDNEY, September 27. (Received September 27, at 11 a.in.) The betting tax is increased from i to i per cent, on the turnover. Increased revenue is also to be derived from probate, death, and stamp duties The total taxation increases amount to £3,900,000.
