LEAGUE OF MOTHERS

Kaikorai Branch. Tlio Kaikorai branch met on Wednesday last, Mrs Dawson (vice-president) conducting the meeting and reading the prayer for peace. The speaker for the afternoon was Mrs W. L. Dodd, who delivered an inspiring address on the sanctity of marriage. Mrs Dodd explained that the principal aim of the league was to uphold this sacred state, and based her message on the three essentials—fidelity, integrity, _ and tact —and stressed the need of spiritual fitness in the home. Mrs Sonntag thanked the speaker on behalf of the members. Mrs Ellis gave two pleasing vocal solos. The thought for the month was: "It is the sunshine in the heart that makes the brightest day.” Maori Hill Branch. The Maori Hill branch hold its September meeting on Thursday last. The president, Mrs C. V. Smith, opened the meeting with a special prayer for peace. Members indicated their willingness to co-operato in such wartime activities as may be required of them. Two delightful solos were rendered by Mrs H. B. Naylor, and Mrs Orr Campbell gave an interesting talk on ‘ Floral Decoration,’ illustrating her remarks with a practical demonstration. The speaker also supplied helpful information on the growing of vegetables.
