DUNEDIN REPERTORY SOCIETY
Now that the already rare visits of professional actors to our theatre appear likely to be suspended altogether it is fortunate that Dunedin lias in its midst groups of amateurs who are able to supply the deficiency. The Dunedin Repertory Society has already established a reputation for providing good theatrical entertainment, and a feature of its productions has been their infinite variety. The forthcoming presentation marks a new departure both in theme and manner of staging. ‘ Glorious Morning ’ is a powerful play based on the conflict between the individual and the State, and the Repertory Society has been able to assemble a strong cast for its performance. The producer, Miss Bessie Thomson, in collaboration with Mr Ernest Griffin, the stage manager, has evolved some Irighly effective scenes, two of which wiTl be staged in the beautiful curtains recently acquired by the society. It is to be hoped that the public will show their appreciation of the llepertorv Society’s enterprise by coming in large numbers to see this play, which was a tremendous success in London. They can he assured of excellent entertainment. The play opens on September 27 for a run of four nights, and box plans are at the D.f.G.
