POLICE COURT
TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 26. (Before Mr J. R. Bartholomew, S.M.) DRUNKENNESS. John Hiissey, who offered to take put a prohibition order against Himself, was, on that condition, convicted and discharged on a charge of drunkenness. An elderly woman who had not been before the court since 1935 was also convicted and discharged on a similar charge. FALSE PRETENCES ALLEGED. Lewis Flint (36) was charged that at Riverton on September 4 he obtained the sum of £5 from Duncan Alexander by means of a valueless cheque. Chief-detoctivo Holmes asked for a remand to Invercargill, where there were a number of other charges to be investigated. A remand until October 2 was granted.
