POWER BOAT RACING
MR W. G. HEWITT ELECTED COMMDDDRE An expression of loyalty to the Crown and the Government was passed unanimously at the annual meeting of the Otago Power Boat Club last night. The chairman (Mr W. G. Hewitt), reviewing the annual report and balance sheet, stated that the club finances were in a sound position. The credit balance was not large, but a substantial sum had been paid off the boat account during the year. Miss Otao-o did not appear in the Masport Cup”last vear owing to the carrying out bf overhauls, but this work would be completed in ample time for the next race on January 13. It was understood
that a challenge would be issued by Messrs Bishop Bros, with their neiC boat Scorpion. The election of officers resulted:— Commodore, Mr W. G. Hewitt; vice-commodore; Mr A'. Campbell; rear-commodore, Mr D. Hardie; secretary, Mr N. M. Sutherland; auditor, Mr F._ C. Brown; , dele* gates to association, Messrs W. G. Hewitt and G. Morrison; committee-* Messrs W. Sell, F. raings, E. Yates, A. H. Bishop, W* Griffiths, G. Morrison, C. Morris, J, Gawn, H. G. Calvert, S. Bishop, D. Gough, and H. Mirams, A cup was presented by the Messr* Bishop for the Otago power boat championship. During the evening , reference wat made to the valuable assistance given to the club by Mr W. H. Sell/ the former commodore, who had found _it necessary to resign from his position because of ill-health.
