AMATEUR ROWING
SUGGESTION TO CANCEL REGATTAS (Per United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, September 26. The Wellington Amateur Rowing Association decided to submit a remit to the annual meeting of the New Zealand Association recommending that the invitation to an Australian crew to ■visit New Zealand in February next be withdrawn. Members expressed the opinion that, if the war continued, there was very little likelihood of the visit eventuating. A further remit suggested was that all championship regattas be postponed for the duration of the war, but it was eventually decided that action be delayed till the end of December. Further remits to be submitted to the annual meeting of the New Zealand Association include a proposal to reduce championship races to the Olympic distance of a mile and a-quarter. It was
mentioned that if the remit was carried it would not affect the interprovincial eights.
