MEN’S HOCKEY

OTAGO ASSOCIATION The Executive Committee of the Otago Hockey Association met last evening. Mr E. D. Barton occupied the chair, and there were also present Messrs A. C. Barnes, L. Sew Hoy, M. C. Paine, T. N. Binder, E. J. Rennick, K. Miller, B. SandersOn, A. Botting, and W. S. Alexander. Mr Barnes, manager of the Otago team which played Southland, reported on the garner, and expressed gratification at the improved performance of the senior team. The North Otago Sub-association advised that owing to transport difficulties it had had to cancel its representative matches. The Forbury School was awarded tho primary schools’ A grade championship, and the B grade championship was awarded to Mornington and Anderson’s Bay Schools. It was decided to present the members of the Hatch Cup team with team photographs. The trophies won during tho season were presented as follows;—Gilray Cup (senior competition), University Club; Hayward Cup (senior seven-a-side), University Club; Second Grade Cup, Technical Old Boys; Second Grade Seven-a-side Cup (third grade), Technical School; Old Boys v. Training College Trophy, High School Old Boys. There was a general discussion, in which all players were invited to take part, to receive suggestions for financing a trip to Auckland to take part next year in the Centennial hockey tournament. Several suggestions were considered, and the meeting was assured that any money raised for the purpose would be regarded as a travelling fund, and the players would receive the benefit even if the Centennial games had to be abandoned on account of existing circumstances. It was decided to supply each club with subscription cards, and to accept any further offers of assistance which might eume forward.
