REPERTORY SOCIETY
‘GLORIOUS MORNING’ It is generally conceded that the settings used by the Dunedin Repertory "Society in their productions at His Majesty’s Theatre compare favourably with those of the average professional touring company. Looking back over the past few years one recalls the wood scene at the opening of ‘ Pygmalion ’ and the mountain top in ‘ Autumn Crocus.’ Then there were the magnificent period settings of ‘ And So To Bed,’ and the Biblical atmosphere so well captured in ‘ A Man’s House.’ These scenes were all of the realistic type, but there are certain types of play w}iich gain in strength and dignity jby being presented in the severity of *“ curtains.” Realising this, the society has recently acquired two sets of magnificent velvet curtains, which will he used for the first time in the forthcoming production, ‘ Glorious Morning.’ The producer, Miss Bessie Thomson, has decided to present two out of the' four scenes, the council chamber and the prison scene, “ in curtains.” ‘ Glorious Morning ’ will be presented at His Majesty’s Theatre for a season of four nights, commencing on Wednesday. particulars are advertised.
