NORTH OTAGO NOTES
[From Qua Oamaeu Correspondent.] , UNION CRICKET CLUB. At the annual meeting of the Union Cricket Club the following officers were elected:—President, Mr 0. G. Meikle; vice-presidents—Messrs A. North, A. M'Beath, R. M'Donald, J.J. Stott, and H. Ewing; club captain, Mr J. Madigan; practice captains—Messrs Maddigan, D. W. Papps, J. W. Kinder, W. Mason, arid A. K. Doig; secretary, Mr A. K. Doig; selector, Mr W. L. Borrows; committee—Messrs Papps, Mason, Maddigan, B. Blair, and Kinder; delegates, Messrs Maddigan and Doig. WOMEN’S CLUB.
The following committee was elected at the annual meeting of the Literary Circle of the North Otago Women’s Club: —Miss M. S. Fitzgeraldl (chairwoman), Mesdames M. H. R. Jones (secretary), I’. A. M‘Dowell, W. J. Davis, and W. H. Wylie, Misses E. Harvey, O. Lindsay, and W. M'Adam. RUGBY FOOTBALL. ■ Playing in mud, Athletic beat Old Boys by 11 to 0 on Saturday, and thus won the Mollison Cup. For the winners Anderson scored a try andl Devon . converted it and kicked two penalty goals. The game was a forward one entirely. ■ , , _ Old Boys juniors won the Ralph Cup, beating Excelsior by 14 to 8. The Referees’ Association beat the Post and Telegraph Department by 12 to 9, . GOLF. The North Otago Golf Club’s bogey match was won by J. M. Paapc, 1 up, and h© wins the Maud© Oup for the best three bogey scores of the season. THE RAINFALL. The rainfall in Oamaru since Thursday totalled 90 points, making 185 points for the month so far. OAMARU CRICKET CLUB. There was a hig attendance at the annual meeting of the Oamaru Cricket Club. The following officers were elected:—President, Mr W. Brundell; vicepresidents—Dr Smith Morton, Messrs O, Hedges, R. S. Mitchell. L. IR. Jordan, F. Milner. A. Foster, T. Wright, L. "VVright, L. Tweed, I. Kear, P. Jadkson, and H. S. Orbell; club captain, Mr P. Jones; assistant club captain, Mr J. Russell; secretary, Mr H. Kelk; committee—Messrs W. Bee, W. B. Turvey, and captains of teams; selector, Mr T. H. Hendra; delegates; Messrs Turvey and Bee. MANCHESTER UNITY. N.G. Bro. A. G. Port presided at the quarterly meeting of Loyal_ Oamaru ‘ Lodge. One candidate was initiated. It was agreed to enter the Brownlie Shield ritual competition. A grant of £1 Is was made to the North Otago Centennial fund. An invitation to attend the anniversary celebrations of Albion Lodge was accepted. Bros. Port and W. Couper were appointed delegates to the half-yearly meeting of the Otago district. It was decided to apply to the District Executive for a jewel for Permanent Secretary Bro. W. Couper,' who has enrolled 125 members. BOWLING. At the annual meeting of the Maheno Ladies’ Bowling dub the officers i. .u elected were:—President, 51 Mrs N; J. : Caldwell; vice-president, Mrs T. Livingstone; secretary, Miss Macqueen; committee, Mrs Barker and Miss Todd; auditor, Miss L. MacDonald; selectors, Mrs Barker and Miss Todd,
