Dr E. N. Alerrington left by train this morning to attend a conference of chaplains at Wellington in connection with the present crisis. He will also attend the annual meeting of the Presbyterian Church Board of Property. Air Thomas Ritchie returned on Saturday after conducting a party of New Zealand tourists through Great Britain and parts of the Continent. A Brigade Order, issued by Colonel G. Barclay, chief commissioner, contains the notification that, in consequence of ill-health, Dr C. D. Henry, C. St. J., M.A., AI.D., 8.C., Wellington, Surgeon-in-chief of the St.. John Ambulance Brigade for the Dominion, has been compelled to tender his resignation and has been posted to the Reserve. Dr Henry has had a long association with St. John, and his retirement will be much regretted. The vacant position of Surgeon-in-chief has been filled by the ’appointment of Sir Louis E. Barnett, Kt., C.AI.G., K. St. J., M. 8., F.R.C.S-, at present district surgeon of the Otago district. Sin Louis Barnett’s connection with the Order extends back for over four decades, ami he has done much to assist in the advancement of its work in New Zealand. * A Press Association cable message from Geneva states that Mr Carter Goodfich, of the United States, has been elected chairman of the Council of the International Labour Office. In a paragraph, taken from another journal, which appeared in the ‘ Star * on Saturday, Lady le Fleming was incorrectly identified with Miss Rosemary Rees, the New Zealand povelist.'
