WINTER SHOW
NEW BUILDING DELAYED POSTPONED DURING WAR PERIOD *« Plans and specifications for the new Winter Show building in Crawford street have now been fully prepared, but hi the meantime tenders will not bo called and the work will be held up until the war situation is clarified. This decision was reached at tho monthly meeting of the Otago A. and P. Society committee held on Thursday afternoon. The Finance Committee brought forward a recommendation that, owing to the outbreak of war, the impossibilty of obtaining steel, and other restrictions making it difficult to proceed in the meantime with the building, the whole scheme be held over for one year, or until the result of the war was known. It was made clear that there was to be no abandonment of the proposals, merely an advisable postponement in view of the circumstances. It was agreed that the special fund opened for the raising of finance for the purpose should not be closed in the meantime, and that donations be solicited 90 that the finance should be available when it was found possible to proceed with the project.
