MORE SNOW
THREE INCHES AT RANFURLY BLACKSTONE HILL ROAD BLOCKED Last night’s drop in temperatures brought heavv, soaking ram to the city, which resulted in the presence of a fair amount of surface water in various parts this morning, but otherwise no damage or interferences of any nature are reported. e Rain fell in most parte of Central Otago, and during the earlier hours of this morning gave way to snow in the Maniototo district. At 11 o clock today there was 3in of snow lying at Ranfurlv, and snow was still falling. Most of tiie creeks about tbo Maniototo are running very high, and motorists are advised to keep at watch for possible trouble. No report had been received by the Automobile Association up to midday stating that the roads were not negotiable, although advice had been received that drivers proceeding to Alexandra from the Maniototo should not taike the usual road over Blackstone Hill, hut should go through Oturehua. This indicates that the Blackstone Hill road is blocked either by snow or hr flood waters. Rain was falling at Alexandra, but was not very heavv. All roads otherwise m the Otago area were clear this morning, and with the cessation of rain in coastal areas it eccms unlikely that any trouble will develop.
