LATE MR W. T. RATANA
MAORIS ARRIVE FOR FUNERAL AND TANGI [Per United Press Association.] WANGANUI, September 22. About 4,000 Maoris are housed at the Ratana Pa for the funeral of Mr W. T. Ratana, which takes place at 2.30 on Sunday. The burial service will be conducted by apostles of the- Ratana Church. It is expected that the Acting Minister of Native Affairs (Mr Langstone) will attend the funeral, also Sir A p Iran a Ngata and two other members of Parliament. Maoris continue to arrive daily for the tangi. which will last the whole of nest week. No decision has yet taken place regarding the appointment of a new leader, but the matter will he discussed next week with Mr H. T. 'Ratana, M.P. [chairman), Mr P. N. MP. ('deputy-chairman), and Mr It. T. Tirikatene, M.P. (treasurer). Hundreds of telegrams and letters of sympathy have poured into the Ratana Post Office, and these will he acknowledged after the funeral.
