GAME 832. —Tasmanian Championship Play.—
The interesting games described below were played at Campbell Town between G. Moodie and O. Vince in the final of the recent Tasmanian championship. Score and notes by “ Double Corner,” Hobart, from whom we received the games. 1
—“ Paisley.”— Black, G. Moodie; White, O. Vince,
(a) If 26-22, 16-20, 22-17, then the “ Bristol Cross ”is formed. The 27-24 move is considered weak.
(b) This move gives Black a very difficult, game. In the fifth game of the grand final played at Hobart Hoodie varied .here with 11-16, and Vince playing 18-15 the game continued, 1-6, 22-18, 7-11, 26-22, 3-7, 30-26, 9-13, 18-9, 5-14, 22-18. 13-17, 18-9, 11-18, 21-14, 10-17, 23-14, 16-30—Hoodie won. ■ (c) The northerner made the best of a had position, but the draw is doubtful after the thirteenth move. , GAME 833. The following was the second game played at Campbell Town —“ Paisley.”— (
(a) Forms the “ Paisley ” opening, safe for White. (b) Now into the Bristol Cross. _ (c) Good play by the Tasmanian champion. (d) Looks good enough to draw. , le) 7-10.. holds out more hope, by combining the three pieces. .. (f) Did Black miss a draw ?—Helbourne ‘ Leader.’
