OTAGO ASSOCIATION A meeting of the committee of the Otago Lawn Tennis Association was held on AVednesday night, when there were present Messrs lit. Phillipps (in the chair), A. T. Jensen, E. ■ Coaching: Messrs E. Swete (convener), G. H. Jolly. It was left in the hands of the Competitions Committee :to draw up the rules governing club matches and the Cleghorn and Walker Cup matches. It was resolved that entries for club matches, close on Tuesday, October 3, and that matches commence on Saturday, October 14.

As it had been decided at the annual meeting to divide the A grade competition into three grades—a men’s A .grade, women’s A grade, and a mixed A grade—clubs entering for these grades should send in a list of their players and indicate in the event of their entry for the men’s or women’s A grade not being accepted by the Competitions Committee whether they would be prepared to enter in the mixed A grade competition. It was decided to hold the M‘Millan Cup on November 18. Entries for this event will close on November 13. This competition will be held on the same lines as last year. Mr M'Millan offered to subscribe £3 3s to the prizes. He was thanked for his donation.

Mr T. Brooker wms reappointed the association’s coach, and it was left in the hands of the Coaching Committee to draw up a circular •to be sent to the clubs.

■ The Morningtou Club wrote asking if the association could exempt its courts from match play this season.— It was decided to advise the Morningtou Club that the committee would endeavour to relievo its courts from match play as far as possible. Mr 0. G. White wrote advising lie was unable to continue to act as one of the association’s delegates to the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association. —Mr White’s resignation was accepted with regret and it was decided to write thanking him for his past valuable services.

Mr L. T. Clegborn wrote accepting tho position of vice-president and enclosing a donation of £2 2s to the funds of the association.—lt was resolved to write thanking Mr Clegborn for his donation and the support he had for so many years given to tho association. Mr Warren Boyd wrote thanking the association for electing him an honorary vice-president and enclosed a donation of £1 Is.—Mr Boyd was thanked for his donation. Arrangements were made for members of the committee to attend the various club openings to-morrow. Mr H. C. Young was granted a transfer from the Anderson’s Bay Club to the Kaituna Club.

Arrangements were made for granting the Technical College and Training College the use of the association’s courts, and it was also resolved to write the secondary, primary, and Dunedin North Intermediate Schools advising that the association would bo pleased to grant them the use of tho courts. It was also resolved to ask fhc Technical College to nominate two girls and two boys, and the King’s High School two boys for coaching.
