FATAL ACCIDENT
CAPTAIN M‘CRONE’S DEATH [Per United Phess Association.] 'AUCKLAND, September 19. . The death occurred to-day of Captain Donald MTavish M'Crone. aged 63, of Remuera, who suffered injuries to the face when a shotgun was discharged on Saturday. Captain M'Crone was carrying the gun and was about to engage in shooting at the back of Mount Wellington, where the accident occurred. He was getting out of hia car when he fell, and the charge from the gun penetrated the lower half of his face. Captain M'Crone was born in Scotland, and first came to New Zealand as master of the Livingstonia over 20 years ago, when he was with the New Zealand Shipping Company. After returning to England ho came back to New Zealand and joined the stevedoring staff of the New Zealand Shipping Company in Auckland. He later joined the firm of Messrs Leonard and Dingley Ltd., of which he was a director for
about 15 years. He was president of Ihe St. Andrew’s Society, a justice of the peace, and was prominent in Scottish affairs in Auckland. Ho was a popular figure on the Auckland waterfront..
