DUNEDIN FRENCH CLUB

On Monday evening the Dunedin French Club’s programme was presented by Dr Howard and his party of King’s High School boys. It took the form of a “ faked ” radio broadcast, and unseen performers caused a comparatively innocent-looking radio set to do strange things which were decidedly “ not 8.8. C. An appreciative audience listened to an amazing assortment of local news, musical performances, playettes, and parodies of wellknown radio features, not to mention a French version of the ‘ Lambeth Walk.’ The performers were G. L. Bartlett (piano), R. Dunbar, D. Wood, W. F. Quigley, F. G. B. Brown, M. J. C. Templeton, W. Clayton, D. S. Coombs, J. A. Thomson, and R. W. Ombler.

A. Pettitt was the accompanist. Another item that was popular was a talk by Mr 0. R. Allen on Bret Harte. During the evening a collection was taken pp for the annual orphans’ outing and ian excellent response was made.
