AUSTRALIA'S RESOURCES
GREAT HELP TO HOMELAND (British Official Wireless.) (RUGBY, September 18. (Received September 19, at 2 p.m.) A Ministry of Information statement reviews the resources of Australia in relation to the needs of the British Commonwealth of Nations in the present struggle. “ Australia was a tower of strength to Great Britain in the last war, not only because of the magnificent fighting troops she sent, but because of the essential supplies which steadily reached United Kingdom ports from the Commonwealth,” says the statement. “ During this war Australia’s support, which is already pledged to Great Britain, will be infinitely greater.” The statement reviews the growth of Australia’s productive capacity, both primary and secondary. It mentions the production of aeroplanes, and vital commodities such as antimony, arsenic, asbestos, coal, copper, gold, ironstone, lead, magnesite, manganese, molybdenite, osiairidium, tin, wolfram, and zinc.
