THE ANNUAL MEETING The annual meeting last night wa« presided over by Mr F. C, Smith, the retiring president. Colonel W. J. Strong and other visitors were welcomed to the meeting. During the past year the loss of members by death included Mrs Mary Simmbhds’, 83 (Omeo, 1862) j Mrs Sarah Campbell, 70 (early ’sixties); Mrs Elizabeth Forgie, 91 (Chance, 1835); Mrs Jane Willmott, 87 (Strathfieldsaye), 1858): Mrs W. Harrison (Sussex, 1874); Mrs Isabella Mitchell'(Jnra, 1858); Mary Ann Gredgman, 89' (Sussex, 1874); William Love (Storm Cloud, 1864): Charles Driver, 73 (Chance, 1838); John Watson, 94 (Omeo, 1862); Alexander Sutherland, 74 (Nelson, 1868). The association extended its heartfelt sympathy to the relatives of those worthy people. The past year, the annual report stated, had been one of progress. The committee had met regularly, and, led by its worthy president, had made real efforts to promote the success of the association. The quarterly concerts were tery enjoyable, thanks to the lady and gentlemen performers. Five new members had joined, and the membership had consequently remained almost up to the previous number. A number of gifts of historical value had been received. . Mr Leslie Jack was elected president; W. G. Love vice-president; Messrs C. Craig, R. Andrews, and C. Knewstubb were added to the committee; the Women’s Committee was reelected. . Musical items were given by Missee Isabelle Leftwich. Olive Knewstubb, June Sutherland, Shirley Reeves, and Adele Wilson. Mr C. Craig led th» community sing.
