They met at a dance. He was tall, handsome, and dark. She was so charming and sweet. They had dance after dance together. After the seventh, the young man stopped suddenly and looked round. “ See that glum-looking chap over there? ” he asked his partner suspiciously. “ He’s been following us about all the evening. Who is he, and what’s he after ? ” “ You mean that miserable, half-starved fellow in the spotted tie? ” remarked the girl casually. “ Don’t worry about him. He’s'only the fellow who paid for me to come in.”
