QUEEN'S DRIVE BOATING CLUB

ANNUAL MEETING The annual meeting last night was ■presided over by Mr W. J. Wilson, who mentioned that the late Mr N. Dodds, an ex-president, hadl been a member for 47 years. The club_ had also lost by death Mr J, Galbraith, a keen member and a vice-president. The Chairman commented on tho good attendance at the meeting. The membership of the club, the annual report stated, consisted of 26 active, 22 honorary, and 5 life members. The Chairman, in moving the adoption of the report, congratulated tho club on last year’s record, .includjng the winning of the Butterfield Shield. A good average -was made at the various regattas, and if members held together they should figure in tho coming season’s regattas. One thing was that if the members were not rowing they would bo serving their country. It was pleasing to note how tho youths rowed last season at tho Otago championship regatta and tho Queenstown regatta, it was pleasing to note that the season ended with a credit balance of £59, which was rather wonderful after the purchase of a new boat cost ing £7O. Mr W. Leftwich and Mr H. Watson also commented favourably on the work of the past season and the satisfactory state of the club’s affairs generally. ■ The club captain (Mr D, M. Matho son) considered that the new _ fouroar boat should prove a good investment.

The election of officers resulted:—Dr P. D. Cameron, patron; Mr W. Leftwich, president; Messrs H. Watson, O’Connor, and W. Broom were added to the vice-presidents; W. Fullerton, secretary; D. Mathewson, club captain; G. Densem, deputy-captain; R. Paris, A. Cook, M. Sutherland, H. Watson, L. Olson, G. Wilson, J. Denaem, General Committee; W. Leftwich, D. Mathewson, H. Watson, selectors; W. J. Wilson, D. Mathewson, H. Watson, delegates to O.R.A.

Mr Mathewson said that the Physical Welfare Committee was a movement in the right direction. He had represented the did) at a meeting called by that body,.
