2,500 MILES AT A SHILLING A MILE Mr J. H. Curie, noted English traveller and author, whose book, * This World of Ours,’ was a bestseller, recently started ou the world’s longest taxi drive. He engaged Vincent White, a local taxi driver, to drive him from Darwin to Cloncurry (Queensland) and return, a distance of 2,500 miles. White charged Is a mile, so that the total bill will be £125. When Mr Curie arived in Australia a few months ago he said he had travelled 1,700.000 miles during his lifetime. He added that he was determined to travel 2,000,000 before he died.
