The Hongkong correspondent of the American Associated Press says delayed despatches from Chungking state that 600 Chinese were killed and the Canadian United Church mission and school were destroyed on Monday at Luchow in a Japanese air raid. Fires destroyed a third of Luchow. The Canadian missionaries are reported to be safe. THE HEW CABINET ELIMINATION OF MEDDLING. TOKIO, September 13. (Received September 14, at 11 a.m.) A change in Government policy has made General Abe Cabinet’s sole contact with the Emperor. The War and Nnvv Ministers are restricted to consulting the throne only on matters of defence, indicating the elemination of the meddling which has complicated foreign problems. Coincidentally, the Government emphasised its intention to concentrate on settlement of the Chinese war and maintain an independent foreign policy. BREACH IN WANGMOOK BOOM JAPANESE LANDING MADE. LONDON, September 13. (Received September 14, at 1 p.m.) The Hongkong correspondent of ‘ The Times ’ states that the Japanese made a breach in the Wangmoon bcom and landed on both banks of the creek, Chinese peasant militia resisting fiercely. Several Japanese motor barges were sunk. HIGH COURT OFFICIAL SHOT DEAD SHANGHAI, September 13. (Received September 14, at 1 p.m.) Chow Hung-Ching, High Court superintendent under the Japanese-sponsored Government in Wuhan City, was shot dead by an unknown gunman.
