DISPLAY OF WORK TO-MORROW AFTERNOON
As the Otago Home Economics’ Association. has 15 branches wherein the main activities of members take place, the association aims at bringing all members together in close co-operation by working up some concerted effort every other year. The association is entirely self-sup-porting, and money raised in these special undertakings is devoted to especially approved organisations which are serving the community. In view of the present state of war, members have decided that all proceeds from the display of members’ work in the Concert Chamber on Thursday will be used to procure soldiers’ comforts in some way which will be approved of by the mayoress. Hand-made toys, rugs and quilts will be of special interest in a wonderfully wide assortment of handwork. A short programme to be given early in the evening will contain items by the Mothers’ Choir, and a mannequin parade of children’s clothing. The hall will be open right through the afternoon and evening, so as to give full opportunity for the public to see what a surprisingly large amount of handwork is still practised in this socalled machine age.
